Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Scope of Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and regulatory compliant work environment
- Responsible for all aspects of engineering and maintenance at the StarChem manufacturing site
- Manage the upkeep and maintenance of all plant equipment ensuring that all equipment is fully operational and safe to use
- Provide cost-effective, well-engineered solutions to meet the requirements of the business and drive new engineering and construction projects to completion as required by the business
Duties & Responsibilities
Operational
- Manage the maintenance and engineering group ensure that the group has the right mix of expertise required for plant maintenance
- Schedule workload and assign duties on a daily basis to members of the maintenance group
- Work with production manager to establish shorter-term project priorities in line with the immediate demands of production
- Participate in monthly management meetings to give an update on key project status and discuss key project prioritization
- Provide guidance to the management team in ways to invest capital to improve plant efficiencies and manufacturing flexibility
Preventive Maintenance
- Establish a preventive maintenance program to ensure that all critical equipment is maintained and fully-functional
- Use a software program to set a maintenance schedule on critical equipment and also to log new maintenance requests from manufacturing and EHS, as well as track maintenance history and cost of equipment
- Perform regular equipment and site checks to ensure all equipment is functioning and safe to operate
Project Management
- Drive all projects from an engineering perspective, deliver on time on budget results
- Provide engineering expertise to develop capital expansion plans and equipment upgrades that meet business demands
- Design equipment and modify existing equipment to ensure maximum manufacturing flexibility in the plant
- Work to reduce costs by providing the most cost-effective engineering options
- Develop relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure best service and pricing on any projects for StarChem
EHS & Regulatory
- Maintain equipment to safety standards required by OSHA
- Ensure all contractors working in the plant follow all the OSHA safety requirements
- Maintain all inspections and records to equipment required by State and Federal Agencies
Education & Experience
- Experience working in a Chemical Manufacturing plant, experience in RMP/PSM environment a plus
- Understanding of Class I, Div II explosion-proof environment
- Experience with computer-controlled automation of chemical processes using DCS (Seimens control system)
- Minimum BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of experience in an engineering supervisory role
