The antifoam agent active in StarSil™ XL Base is based upon a high molecular weight polydimethylsiloxane and silica technology. It is particularly effective in small amounts in suppressing foam in detergent systems. For high- alkaline and high-temperature applications, the ultra-high molecular weight accounts for its staying power to continue to control foam longer than most conventional silicone/silica defoamers. This product is a general-purpose defoamer designed for defoaming industrial applications and wastewater effluents.

StarSil™ XL Base has a shelf life of at least six months from the date of delivery note if stored in tightly-closed containers at temperatures not exceeding 25°C (77°F) and protected against freezing. The product may separate upon freezing. Continued storage beyond the designated shelf life does not necessarily mean the material cannot be used. However, renewed testing of the most important properties is imperative.
